Roof Waterproofing & Refurbishment

POLYPRUFE is the ultimate waterproofing coating for roof refurbishment.
POLYPRUFE has excellent crack-bridging properties with high elongation and tensile strength. There are hundreds of properties in this country in need of roof refurbishment, they come in all shapes and sizes and in a variety of materials. The fast cure time and insensitivity to moisture allows for a quicker installation with a wider application window. Proper surface preparation and substrate condition is always necessary.
POLYPRUFE is suitable for use over Concrete, Asphalt, Timber, Slates, Tiles, Corrugated and Metal roofs. POLYPRUFE surveyors are experienced experts in roof refurbishment. POLYPRUFE can be formulated to meet specific performance requirements due the wide range of physical properties that can be formulated.

Once a problem occurs to the roof and it starts to deteriorate or even leak, it can be a costly exercise to repair in patches or even replace the whole roof. With Polyprufe, the existing roof covering can be retained and a seamless spray applied waterproof coating can be used over the top of the roof covering to keep it watertight. Once this has been completed by our specialist operatives a 10 -20 year guarantee can be issued (depending on specification and covering ) Polyprufe spay applied system can also be used over asbestos to encapsulate and prevent the need for removal. The spray coating acts as a 'rubber roof membrane' giving long-lasting and flexible waterproofing.
The correct application is however of the utmost importance. Maclennan staff will inspect the roof or deck to be sprayed and advise on the correct preparation. The Maclennan teams are fully trained and experienced with all of the different substrates they are called upon to prepare and spray. The spraying teams will carry out any final preparation. Preparation is job site specific and each site presents its own challenges. Maclennan work closely with the manufactures to insure the correct primers, specific to the material to be coated, are used.
1) Preparation:
The roof surface to waterproof must be sound, free of oil, grease and contaminants, but also dry. If the surface is not dry, we would use a damp tolerant primer, and a pull off test to check adhesion would be performed. We would ideally look for 0.75 N/mm pull off as a minimum. Preparing to BS standard 8204 (as per synthetic resin floors) is not a bad place to start.
2) Substrate:
It is essential that the substrate is strong enough to take the roof coating. If in doubt, again a pull off test is the best indication, and any sub-standard roof surface can be blasted to remove any surface laitance in order to take you back to a sound, strong surface.
3) Other coatings or contaminants:
If the surface is already coated, it is essential to make sure that it is strong enough to receive a very strong roof waterproofing system like Polyprufe, and that the two materials are chemically compatible. Often cross linking polymer based materials are used because of their ability to withstand chemical attack. Once these resins have cured chemically, they are very hard to bond to without the correct preparation, because they will have "closed out" Polyprufe surveyors are fully trained experts on roof waterproofing and have 20 years experience in waterproofing and roof coatings.
4) Colours:
Polyurea is an aromatic. Therefore, as with all aromatics, over a period of time colour change as well as superficial oxidation will occur. The minimal oxidation, however, will not affect performance. The manufacturer can supply Aliphatic urethane and other suitable topcoats which Polyprufe can be apply where long-term aesthetics are important.
Roof Tank Linings :
POLYPRUFE coatings protect steel tanks from corrosion, chemicals, and the weather.
POLYPRUFE will renew old tanks and can save thousands in replacement costs.
POLYPRUFE will enhance the structural characteristics as well.
The system is dry in seconds so the down time of the tank is minimal.
