Service Entries

Service entries are one of the most common points of failure for structural waterproofing.

Service Entries are a critical element of structural basement waterproofing. Often required in commercial buildings and situated in plant rooms, bunds or near key infrastructure.

They are frequently left as open letterboxes in concrete or situated in poorly installed sleeves ...to be addressed later in the project.

They often become a significant and costly problem.

Not Ideal.

Leaks or even flooding around service penetrations are common issues, as the cabling or pipes are fixed in place and cannot be effectively sealed.

And no,
expanding foam won't save the day.

Even Worse!

Often, these service entries are high on the wall, leading to leaks above critical plant areas.

Why all the issues with Service Entries?

Service entries sketch

If service entries aren't designed during the technical design stages, they can become a major issue on site.

The challenge is that, during early design, it's often unclear how many services, and what size and type, will be needed until the entire scheme, including all M&E, is finalised.

Or... at least they were an issue.

We have the solution to this problem, but they must be designed and implemented right from the start of construction.

The Key Points

Aqualock Entry sleeves are cost-effective, allowing for flexibility in design by including spare sleeves.

The key is ensuring they remain watertight and gas-tight.

Our Aqualock Entry sleeves come with water and gas-tight caps, keeping the site dry from the moment they are installed.

Installing 10 Aqualock ports during construction costs less than £1,000.

In contrast, installing 10 bespoke entry ports around services without pre-planning and pre-installation can cost up to £30,000.

Attempting to concrete in services that aren't running through well-designed ports with gaskets is nearly impossible, often unsuccessful, not guaranteed, and still very expensive.

The Aqualock system seals into our cavity drain membranes for a perfectly formed detail.

Once the Entry is installed, and the wall built around it, we can then install an Aqualock Seal, available in multiple configurations and layouts.

They can even be made custom to requirements.
